Update: I deinstalled Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and installed the trial version of Acrobat Pro 9. All crashes immediately disappear. Life is good. But I'm still wondering why Extended is such a disaster on any system I run. (Also hoping Adobe will permit me to "trade" Extended for regular Pro. It's a shame. There are LiveCycle Designer features in Extended I really need.)
Following are excerpts from kind response from Art Campbell, as well as my replies... > * You don't mention what OS you're running under Bootcamp. I'll look into this hotfix. > * Is the Acrobat logical printer set as your system default? No Word content. Just .eps vectors from Illustrator and some screenshots. Haven't saved to MIF lately, but tried that years ago when the problem first surfaced. No luck. > * Are you using SaveAsPDF from Frame? Is the behavior the same when > you Print to the Adobe printer? Yes. I tried every PDF generation approach available and the result is the same.
