The SetPrint plug-in was only necessary with older versions of FrameMaker -- 6.x and earlier, if I recall correctly -- which used whatever was the current Windows printer as its default printer. The problem with that approach was that even if you set the FrameMaker printer to "Adobe PDF" (or whatever name Adobe was using at the moment, because they changed the designation a few times in that era), the next time you launched Frame the printer would be set back to your current Windows selection (usually a physical printer).
The FrameMaker team eventually got it right and gave FrameMaker its own default printer selection that was "sticky" and completely independent of the Windows printer selection, thus eliminating the need for the Sundorne plug-in. -FR ________________________________________ From: Framers <framers-bounces+docudoc=hotmail....@lists.frameusers.com> on behalf of Syed Zaeem Hosain <syed.hos...@aeris.net> Sent: Saturday, April 9, 2016 3:58 PM To: Robert Lauriston; framers@lists.frameusers.com Subject: Re: [Framers] slow-scrolling images Robert Lauriston said: > FrameMaker's default printer should always be set to Adobe PDF. Yes! And, there is a FrameMaker plug-in that can automate this while using FrameMaker - very easy to install and not worry about this specific issue. Free from Sundorne: http://www.sundorne.com/FrameMaker/Freeware/setPrint.htm Callable from FrameScript too.
