Center for Visual Music is pleased to have loaned films, art and ephemera
to a large exhibition opening this Sunday, Oct 6 in Los Angeles: *Color in
Motion: Chromatic Explorations of Cinema* opens at the Academy Museum of
Motion Pictures. CVM material is in the Experimental Films section of this
show. We loaned Oskar Fischinger's *Kreise* (1933-34) and Mary Ellen
Bute's *Color
Rhapsodie* (1948). These plus Len Lye's *Rainbow Dance* are the only films
shown in the Experimental section.

There's a lot of art and ephemera in this section too.
>From CVM: two concept paintings for *Fantasia*, by Fischinger; 35mm strips
from *Radio Dynamics* on a light box; six paintings from *Radio Dynamics*,
photographs of Fischinger and Bute, including a photo of Bute from her
presentation folio about her films.

There's also material relating to Len Lye (from Len Lye Foundation), Bute
animation material from Yale, some original Kreise animation paintings from
Frankfurt, a photo of the Whitney Brothers, and a cel from Vertigo.

Nearby this section, CVM has loaned materials relating to Oskar
Fischinger's Lumigraph, including video documentary footage of Barbara
Fischinger playing the original Lumigraph, and some ephemera from the 1950s.

The exhibition runs until July, 2025.

ANOTHER EXHIBITION:
CVM loaned Mary Ellen Bute's *Rhythm in Light* to a Getty Museum exhibition
open now, *Abstracted Light: Experimental Photography*. There are 4 Wilfred
Lumias in this show also, on view through November.
