Hi Esperanza, Eikis have induction (i.e. asyncronous) motors, so their speed it fixed, but can slightly varying by time because of different friction on the various moving parts. They are simple, cheap and reliable motors, but syncing is for sure an issue. One way can be to find some way of syncing them by a mechanical mean, I don't know, a toothed belt connecting them, pretty complicate, but with some ingenuity maybe it can be done.
I don't have a Bauer but if I remember well last models have a DC motor, so probably there's a trimming pot on the electronic part that can be moved to change the speed. A simply way of syncing is using a strobo light to check the speed placing it close to the sprockets and trimming the pot until they both looked still. You can solder two leds to an audio cable coming from a digital recorder Or from a computer) where you have put a square wave audio at 24Hz. Of course you have to stay closer to the trimming pot and adjust it when it's necessary. (I do something similar to record in sync on Super8 mag track with a Elmo projector) Hope this helps Livio Il giorno lun 31 mar 2025 alle ore 12:20 Esperanza Collado < [email protected]> ha scritto: > Dear Frame-workers: > > I need to ensure that two 16mm film projectors run *perfectly in sync* at > the same speed and frame rate. > > From my experience, even when using two projectors of the same brand and > model, subtle variations in speed still occur.
