Hi Stephanie,
We have a dozens of relevant articles and texts on Fischinger and other animators at the CVM online library at
http://www.centerforvisualmusic.org/Library.html
For Fischinger texts, here's the bibliography at the official Fischinger research site (many with links):
http://www.centerforvisualmusic.org/Fischinger/OFBibliography.htm
That Fischinger site is www.centerforvisualmusic.org/Fischinger
We also have sites and bibliographies for Jordan Belson, Mary Ellen Bute and others that may be of interest.
Re the article on Fischinger posted last week here, do you mean the recent one from The Guardian? That one is just journalism, not film history or fact, and contains dramatizations and incorrect information. For example, Fischinger did not "anger Disney" as stated. There's been a huge amount of misinformation published, incorrect press and articles on Fischinger recently, so beware. Not sure if that was the article you're referring to? Hopefully not Wikipedia which is notoriously inaccurate on Fischinger and many other visual music animators.
You may be interested in the forthcoming Fischinger book, Oskar Fischinger (1900-1967): Experiments in Cinematic Abstraction. Edited by Cindy Keefer and Jaap Guldemond, available through Thames & Hudson in April. We have a small amount of advance copies now at CVM in Los Angeles, contact us if interested. The book contains previously unpubished texts by Fischinger himself, as well as articles and texts by many others, and extensive color illustrations. English, 240 pages. I'll send you more info about it off list, from our recent newsletter.
best regards,
Cindy Keefer

>Hello all,

>I am teaching a Contemporary Animation Practices class this semester for the first time. I have lots of great texts but would love to consider others to supplement my own interests. Recommendations would be appreciated. I am currently reading the Fischinger article that someone posted about last week. Thank you!
