This FRI. AUG. 30. DOORS AT 8PM. @ UNION DOCS 322 AVE. BKLYN: 3TONcinema will use multiple 16MM projectors to exhibit shorts from their California-based archive of mostly ephemeral and 'other' cinema. All films will be accompanied either by electronic musician INSECT DELI or by drummer MAX JAFFE. Highlights include "Kiko The Kangroo" (1936), "Dragonfold" (1979), and Arthur Lipsett's "Free Fall" (1964).
3TON's set will be preceded by a screening of "Category: Health"--a new compilation of video shorts by the Brooklyn A/V duo SPCL NTRST, who make new works by manipulating the visual and musical content of found VHS tapes. This event marks the tail end of 3TONcinema's '20,000 FT. DASH,' an effort to fund a digitization 20,000 feet of endangered and marginalized 16MM footage from the Cold War era.
