Hand carry. I usually fabricate a plain lie, producing my own kodak stickers and labelling them “2400 ISO, DO NOT X-RAY" with strong yellow colors. With a gentle professional tone I remind x-ray gate operators that as they well know it is safe to scan film until 1600 ISO, but not beyond, and ask for a mass spectrometry instead. Operators cringe a bit, because of human inertia, but they generally accept. I thank them for their understanding. Sofar this always worked in modern airports where a spectrometer device is standard equipment.
