You might try looking for gun supply stores that supply re-enactors who use 
muzzle loading weapons, or gun enthusiasts who custom load for shotguns.  But 
novices really shouldn't even get close to the stuff.  Even "legal" fireworks 
can be dangerous used indoors.   And you don't need very much to "blow up" 
models.  You might think too of using flash paper which magician and some 
theatrical supply stores carry.  Big flash, no explosive danger.
