I should mention that I work for B&H Photo, although my opinions and
views are my own and do not represent my employers ideas, I only sent
that link back to show there were other options doing a slightly wider
search using a search on the same company someone else posted. With some
options being less expensive than others.
I do not get any commission or make any money directly from sales.
standard disclaimers apply, don't get me fired, I've two daughters to
take care of.
Thanks.
Oh, and back on topic - If I recall, and it has been a while, there is
something special about the bottom of the Arri S, something about a
handle or support that would send a rod up into the bottom of the
camera, starting it when you pressed the trigger. I think it was through
the 3/8"-16 threaded mounting hole (got to be a better term for it).
Perhaps I misremember and it was the IIC.
I miss film cameras, sniff, sniff. And I'm never selling my Eyemo and
lenses, I'll need it to battle the zombies in the coming apocalypse.

There certainly are cheaper ones.

Yes, eBay is a good place to get them cheaply. Search:

10 for $5.39 — share them with your friends!
Tripod screw threads are usually 1/4-20 or 3/8-16, and as you point
out these screws and nuts and threaded rod are available almost
anywhere (in the US).

The conversion screw indicated by Jeff is a specialized item, and I

FYI, generally speaking, all photo and film camera and tripod threads
are, if I am not mistaken, standard UNC threads, that is, industrial
threads. This means that many screws for cameras can be found in good
hardware stores for about a dime.

It's not inches to millimeters, it's a conversion from a 1/4'-20
thread to a
3/8-16 thread. Here's an (overpriced) example of what you need.
They used
to cost $1 or less. But I am old!
