Vail,

So many things are out there. Some artists to check out:

Richard Touhy
Dagie Brundert
Robert Schaller
Ben Rivers
Ben Popp
Michael Rosas-Walsh
Mary Beth Reed *who is at VCU

Ross Nugent
Helen Hill
Charlotte Taylor

And I'll stop there with individuals, at the risk of it appearing canonical.
These are just some of my favorites, but there's also communities built around
CO-OP labs all over the world - as well as individuals working on their own.
You can find a listing of many at filmlabs.org.

Can you describe what you had in mind? Are you talking about shooting with a
camera and processing yourself, or experimenting with various non-camera based
techniques on 16mm film?

Hi Vail,

Not sure if you're just looking at the chemistry aspects of this, but there's a
long tradition of rayographs in experimental film, Man Ray's own Return to
Reason (1923) being an early example,
https://archive.org/details/returnToReasonleRetourLaRaison1923 . Len Lye used
it in Color Cry (1952), I expect Norman McLaren explored it, and there are many
other examples up to the present day.

For my 2002 film, Hojas de MaĆx, I worked in a dark room, though not a wet
darkroom, and contact printed strips of etchings directly to 8 foot long
lengths of 16mm on a light table I built. Stills at

Robert Schaller's quite an expert on this subject
(http://www.robertschaller.org/), perhaps he'll be along momentarily with other
suggestions.

Eric
