Hi Benjamin,

Kier-La Janisse writes about her experiences running Montreal's Blue
Sunshine microcinema (2010-2012) in the Exhibition Guide issue of INCITE.

In the subjective chronicle of microcinema exhibition that I compiled for
the Moving Image Review and Art Journal (MIRAJ) 3.1, there are two entries
for Cinéma Parallèle:

*1971*

*- Claude Chamberlain *founds* Le Cinéma Parallèle* bringing relaxed
experimental screenings to Montreal’s Plateau neighbourhood.

*1999*

*- *Montreal’s *Cinéma Parallèle *moves into Daniel Langlois’s hi-tech
cinematic palace, *Ex-Centris*, sacrificing its grassroots identity.

Pierre-Luc Vaillancourt ran the Cinema Abattoir series. I can send you his
email off-list if you don't have it -- let me know.

Best,
Brett

Subject: [Frameworks] Montreal Microcinemas
Hi, list,

Does anyone out there have leads on writings/archives/information/other on
previous microcinemas or alternative screenings and spaces in Montreal.

I'm particularly interested in the history of places/events that no longer
exist and particularly:

Cinema Abattoir
Cinema Parallele

Best,

Benjamin R. Taylor
