Subject: [Frameworks] Oct 17 Newark: Animation program for all ages from CVM

The Newark Museum (New Jersey, near NYC) will hold a Festival of Color & Light for all ages this Saturday, October 16, featuring activities for kids and adults. Center for Visual Music has provided a film program (16mm and digital) which screens twice, per the request for "colorful animation for children." From their site:

Color in Visual Music, 2:30 and 6pm

See experimental abstract animation in a program from Center for Visual Music that explores music and color.  Films included: Circles, Allegretto, Radio Dynamics (Oskar Fischinger 1934, 1943, 1942), Tarantella and Polka Graph (Mary Ellen Bute, 1940, 1947), Mobiles and Landscape (Jules Engel, 1978, 1971), Sonata for Pen, Brush and Ruler (Barry Spinello, 1968), aura (Richard Baily & John Buchanan, 2007), vellum (Robert Seidel, 2009), and 1000 Plateaus (Steve Woloshen, 2014). 16mm and digital.

The Fischinger films, Bute's Tarantella, and the Engel films are 16mm prints. Engel films were restored with support from The National Film Preservation Foundation.

The museum has curated another program of films at 1pm, featuring some abstract animation.

For those interested, CVM has added Mary Ellen Bute's Polka Graph to our Video on Demand channel at https://vimeo.com/user4392897/vod_pages

This channel also has the Spinello film, Fischinger's Radio Dynamics, and much more.

Other programs and exhibitions are at CVM's Screenings & Events page,
