The scratches look like they are travelling from side to side.
In this kind of motorized looper, the film is wound tightly and the
tension on the front roller activates the platter. That jerks the
film each time the platter needs to start turning. Your film seems
not very long. Perhaps using a non-motorized looper would be easier
on the film in this case.
