Greetings Frameworkers! *Negativland Motion Picture Lab*, a new artist-run film workspace in Brooklyn, NY (technically Ridgwood) is proud to announce its first workshop:
"*Preparing yourself for the Film Apocalypse: An Introduction to Working in an Artist-Run Film Lab*. The laboratory will be taught by myself and Simon Liu on *December 5 & 6 from 11-5*. It centers on teaching 3 key tools in standard use at artist-run labs around the world: the LOMO processing spiral, the BH model-J Contact printer, and the JK optical printer. Here's the blurb: *"In this two-day intensive workshop, participants will learn the basic tools and procedures for working in an artist-run film lab. The lab focuses on three key pieces of equipment: * *participants will learn how to develop 16mm and Super-8 film in a LOMO processing tank, operate a16mm Bell and Howell Model J Contact Printer, and learn the basic functions of the JK Optical Printer. With a maximum of 7 participants, each person will receive time on each piece of equipment and together we will process 16mm and Super-8 black and white negatives, make contact prints from those negatives, then blow-up our super-8 film to 16mm and burn in titles on the JK optical printer. * *These are not only the principal tools in use at Negativland MPL, but they are also the* *standand in artist-run labs around the world.
