Recipe By :Vons Light Brown Sugar package Serving Size : 36 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Cookies Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ ------------ --------- --------- -- 4 cups flour 3/4 teaspoon cream of tartar 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup butter -- softened 2 cups brown sugar, packed 3 eggs 1/2 cup sugar food coloring Sift flour, cream of tartar, cinnamon and salt together. Cream butter and brown sugar thoroughly. Add 2 eggs and 1 egg yolk (reserve 1 egg white), beating until light. Gradually add flour mixture, beating thoroughly after each addition. Wrap dough in in wax paper and chill several hours. Roll out part of dough at a time 1/8-inch thick on lightly floured board. Cut with fancy cutters. Brush tops of cookies with slightly beaten reserved egg white. Sprinkle with colored sugar. (Add a few drops food color to granulated sugar. Mix well.) Bake on greased baking sheets in hot oven (400 degrees F) 8 to 10 minutes. Yield 3 to 4 dozen cookies. ~~~~~ Rhonda G in Missouri
