Isn't this huge news? I read up on the Xenos graphics processor in this article ( http://www.beyond3d.com/articles/xenos/index.php?p=10 ): "In simple terms the MEMEXPORT function is a method by which Xenos can push and pull vectorised data directly to and from system RAM." If the data containing the shaders for the king kong demo isn't signed (which it isn't if it's not inside the executables?) it could be modified to use the MEMEXPORT instruction to read and write anything to the xbox 360's unified memory and output information to the screen. There is also an overview of the final Xenos GPU here: http://www.ati.com/developer/eg05-xenos-doggett-final.pdf > > - which can write the system memory information of address > "x" visible to the screen > > - which can change the system memory > > > > I would have expect Microsoft from blocking at least the > execution area. > > > > But having access to some parts of the system area would > already be much fun > Arne Olav ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
