Eventually, something like this should go in, yes.

Just as a side note, I'm much more liable to accept patches if they make the
required changes on both unix and windows..

If you'd like to make up a patch ('cvs -z3 diff -ud > ..\freeamp.diff' from the
top of the freeamp source directory) I'd be happy to give you some input on it..
