Dear Mark, I had enabled dbus and hald in /etc/rc.conf but it didn't work out. I still cannot type anything with my keyboard in gnome desktop environment.
But here's the good news: I have disabled gdm to start on boot, then I start gnome manually by executing "startx", and I can type in gnome desktop environment! But if I enable gdm at bootup and login to gnome desktop environment through gdm, I won't be able to type anything with my keyboard in gnome desktop environment. I suspect it has something to do with X.org X server. Anybody knows the reason why? Thank you very much.
