While playing over here with the USB stuff, I rebooted the system and disconnected the USB keyboard waited till the system was fully up and re-connected the USB keyboard which resulted in the system not attaching the USB keyboard.
A side note, someone fixed syscons so it no longer panics if the atkbd device is not configured . In my case, I have a USB keyboard and a USB mouse connected to the system with no atkbdc nor atbkd device .
