That's exactly how I did.
Well - I've used git clone https://github.com/gonzoua/evdev-dump.git
Even with a fresh clone it failed at the same file.

I have the following:
/usr/include/dev/evdev/input.h
/usr/local/include/linux/input.h
/usr/local/include/xorg/input.h
