The process to install packages from the DVD release media is missing
from the Handbook
Insert DVD in DVD player, gain root privileges.
#
mkdir /dist
#
mount -t cd9660 /dev/cd0 /dist
#
export REPOS_DIR=/dist/packages/repos
you may need to bootstrap pkg
pkg bootdtrap -y
#
then all PKG commands you do in this session fetches packages from the DVD.
such as:
# pkg install wifi-firmware-rtw88-kmod
Please add this to the handbook at the end of chapter 2.
Well, you should submit this as a docs PR.
I also just checked and it seems the release notes have lost the information
which images contain wifi firmware (for the installer)?
A lot easier if you have another device: download the package (or the firmware
file(s)) to a USB pen drive and then simply copy them over or pkg add the pkg
file
rather than using pkg install.
