The openjdk7 binary package as of a few days ago had a direct run
dependency on compat9x, but I just finished building the latest port
from source and verified that it's gone.
So, at this point I no longer have any issues with VirtualBox.

BTW, you do not need compat9x for OpenJDKs to *run*. You can safely
remove bootstrap-openjdk and compat8x/compat9x once you are done
building them. In fact, it is highly recommended. Please see
