Works fine now.. I thought I'd try it without portupgrade.. so I did
"pkg_delete -f" to all the XFree packages displayed in "pkg_info | grep
XFree".. then I did..

# cd /usr/ports/x11-servers/XFree86-4-Server/
# make all install clean
