As mentioned before I installed the teTeX port and indeed got latex too. At least there was a symlink called that way ;-)) Reading about latex I noticed that there should be a modern variant in use called latex2. It also existst in ports.
Has anybody a clue if (and why) the teTeX port uses another (less modern) latex? In other words: need I install the latex2e port too or should I just use the latex that came with the teTeX port? All further TeX questions will be addressed to the dutch mailing list on tex ;-)) but htis seems a "portconstruction" related to FreeBSD, so..
