You would probably need to reinstall the openldap-client package (and
any packages openldap-client depends on) as well as the pam_ldap and
nss-ldap packages.
- $ portupgrade -fR openldap-client
(-R flag implies the recompilation of openldap-client depenedent
packages as well)
CONCLUSION: no effect.
I'm still thinking in PAM-related error.
