Could you please get a core dump? You'll have to add 'ulimit -c unlimited' in the right place in /etc/rc.d/sshd, and probably also set kern.sugid_coredump to 1. If gdb shows only gibberish, you'll have to rebuild world and pam_ldap with DEBUG_FLAGS="-g" STRIP="".
