it's from the xorg-server port/pkg:
$ pkg list xorg-server|grep modes
/usr/local/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/modesetting_drv.so
/usr/local/man/man4/modesetting.4.gz
Ah, OK, in that case I would have had it when I did my experiment with
remiving all the existing xf86-* drivers. I wont be able to get in front
of the machine again until next week, but will try and get some more
data that. Thanks for the help so far.
