Forgot this: what is currently working for me is:
FreeBSD vpn-gateway 7.2-RELEASE-p4 FreeBSD 7.2-RELEASE-p4 #0: Fri Oct  2 
12:21:39 UTC 2009

Do note that I tried multiple install media and it seemed that nothing above 
7.2 was actually working.
