Follow-up Comment #8, bug #18005 (project freeciv):
The other problem is in client_player_maps_reset() initializing player map
information. It is only ever called when map_info packet is received.
Problem is either that there is no similar player map information
initialization / allocation for players appearing mid-game, or
client_player_maps_reset() is buggy in that it initializes / allocates for
players other than client user.
