Follow-up Comment #2, bug #18042 (project freeciv):
Nope, you're not alone. I've experienced something like this in the past
[circa 2.2.1] on OSX, but not all setups. Anyway, newer defaults have
eliminated the problem for me. You might try selecting Options -> Local
Client -> Interface -> "Arrange Widgets For Small Displays" or even purging
all configuration data and starting out with a fresh slate.
