Uploaded to ftp://ftp.devoresoftware.com/downloads/ are the files HIMEM64.ZIP and HIMEM64S.ZIP holding, respectively, an uncompressed test version HIMEM64.EXE and the modified ASM source from last release HIMEM64, dated April 6, 2004.
The version of HIMEM64 modifies the order of the A20 method (printed at startup) from BIOS -> fast -> KBC -> KBC2 -> PS/2 -> Always -> Fail/None, reversing the KBC methods so that KBC2 is tried before KBC. This is because some early 386's will pass the KBC test, only to fail it later on and lock the keyboard. The KBC2 routine itself has been modified slightly to work with these early 386 machines. If your version of HIMEM64 uses the KBC or KBC-2 method, please test this version. I need to ensure that (1) reversing the KBC/KBC-2 test order doesn't mess up existing machines using KBC and (2) the KBC-2 changes work for those who use KBC-2. If your HIMEM uses BIOS, fast, or PS/2 method, you need not test this change as it does not affect you. Please let me know of any problems you may encounter or questions you may have. Thanks. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials Free Linux tutorial presented by Daniel Robbins, President and CEO of GenToo technologies.
