Hi, I got a "robust" formatting program from a programmer
who calls himself Ave Fenix (as nickname). The program is
written in FASM (180k in 1 source file) and is meant for
formatting floppy disks with partially broken track 0. Ave
writes:

/---
The program seeks some undamaged track to put the FAT
and root directory. If necessary, it adapts the
allocation unit and the FAT size.
It is just necessary one undamaged sector on the track
zero for the boot sector.
In fact, it requires three sectors (two undamaged next
sectors), by security.

It does not allow a command line modifier.
It gets the floppy drive parameters to format it
(INT13h/AH=08h). So, if the drive parameter table
indicates 720k format, then it will do it. But, I did
not try to 720k.

You need the Flat Assembler by Tomasz Grysztar -
http://flatassembler.net

The source code is under GPL.
I just want contribute with an useful program.
My real name is anonymous, Ave Fenix is my nick.

I mirrored the file - unlinked! - on my homepage because Ave does not
seem to have an own homepage. I would like to take the file OFFLINE
again as soon as somebody else has mirrored it at a more "central" place.
Thanks!

Eric
