Are you creating pri1 as Primary partition, pri2 and pri3 as extended?

No, multiple primary partitions. It's just 3 partitions, so perfectly valid.

thanks for your comments though.
I cannot back up anything if I cannot access anything.
I prefer 20GB FAT32 + 35GB NTFS over 55GB "cannot access this partition, do you want to format it now???"
(thus resulting in 55GB free space and lsing very precious files)

Can't tell you much about recovering partition visibility under Windows, but Knoppix can probably see the files if the hard disk partition is at all recoverable. I used Knoppix to grab files off of a physically damaged hard drive while it was dying, so it's pretty forgiving of failure. Were I you, I would burn latest Knoppix image on another machine and make sure it boots on problem machine (latest version here doesn't work as well as earlier ones for my machine). You might have to tweak boot options, depending on your setup.

If you can get Knoppix up, I'm sure several of us can walk you through a save of critical files to CD-R/W or, worst case, floppy. Hopefully not all 20G to a floppy.

Others can doubtless tell you much more about partition recovery software and the like, but I'd strongly consider backing up what's critical in the problem area before messing about too much there.
