Hello Michael, nice to see you making EMM386 even more perfect.

I'm going to test AUGOS one more time because I know that as soon as I put EMM386 2.04 out there, AUGOS is going to start breaking again, starting with your system.

typical, isn't it? :)

rather than AUGOS. But if nothing surfaces by tonight, the new release will go.

tiny requests for the help screen functionality:
-HIMEM's help screen is too long, no automatic pause on full screen.
No need to change that though.
-TEST parameter is not documented on helpscreen (HIMEM /?).
Perhaps currently helpscreen only shows the config.sys (DEVICE=HIMEM.EXE) part, and not the HIMEM.EXE (commandline) part?
-change "Kbs" into "KBs" (HMAMIN part).
-if VERBOSE used on commandline, can you then skip showing every single
command for the DEVICE=HIMEM.EXE use and only show the commands
appropriate for HIMEM.EXE when started from commandline?

Below is what I have in mind, just ignore if it doesn't seem worth the effort to you.

after summer I might get back to you on VDS behaviour in combination with(out) VMware, FreeDOS kernel and UDMA2.SYS driver. Still strange things happening, but not important enough yet.

with best regards,

Bernd Blaauw

***** HIMEM.EXE /VERBOSE (shows commandline parameters)
FreeDOS HIMEM64 3.10 [May 02 2005] (c) 1995, Till Gerken 2001-2005 tom ehlert
Interface : XMS 3.00 80386 4G
Extended memory host for FreeDOS (coordinates the usage of XMS and HMA)
HIMEM is a device driver that is loaded in CONFIG.SYS.
Please place DEVICE=HIMEM.EXE before any driver using XMS.

Use HIMEM /? or HIMEM /? | MORE to see appropriate list
for HIMEMs CONFIG.SYS parameters
HIMEM [/TEST] [/VERBOSE]

/TEST Performs an extended memory test
  /VERBOSE Gives extra information

/LOG Logs the driver activity to a log file
/MAX=##### limit memory controlled by HIMEM to #####K
/METHOD:xxx Specifies the method to be used for A20 handling.
                  Possible values for xxx:
ALWAYSON Assume that A20 line is permanently ON
BIOS Use BIOS to toggle the A20 line
