Nah, I'm still waiting for a good explanation of how using UMBPCI and
EMM386 is a common, or a not very uncommon, or even a desirable configuration.

But, to be honest, I don't care much. I'm done. I'm free. The slings and
arrows of outrageous fortune provide little sting. I've added all the
features I saw a need for when I came aboard (several EMS 4.x functions,
XMS 3.0 support, increased A20 environment testing in HIMEM, VCPI support,
plus a potpourri of minor modifications); stabilized a few shaky bits;
cleaned up the sources as circumstances warranted; and generally served my
stint. All with a lot of help from other people. It's time to move on,
let the next person step in.

So, now all I'm doing is helping a couple of people with support and
testing of specific application/environment problems. And depending on the
results, I might actually have another minor patch or two to apply -- post
FreeDOS 1.0 -- before I fade into obscurity.

You could take on an official programming or contributor role to the
project. Users would be thrilled to have a motivated recruit with ideas
for new features and modifications, brimming with coding zest and
energy. I realize it's not nearly as much fun as poring over old source
code to find edge conditions and posting cute comments about them here, but
ultimately you might find it a lot more rewarding.
