Probably best not to pin too many hopes on it.

Dunno. Probably most people just prefer other obvious (GPL!) setups
like DOSEMU or VirtualBox, where the rest of the "main" OS still
functions in the background. Same diff, right? (Almost.)

BTW, yes, just for clarity, I should mention that Gmail has been
having a bad habit of putting your emails in the "Spam" folder. Some
pretext about "can't verify". They've done that before to a (very) few
random other people (and for no good reason, IMHO). Dunno why. Gotta
love buggy heuristics (not!).

I am not a lawyer, but AFAIK, GPL means "freedom", not "free of cost".
Though once you "release" something "publicly" (redistribute it
outside of your corporation) as "GPL", then you cannot add any more
restrictions (except when bound by local law, of course). You can
charge for money "before" releasing something, but once it's out
there, it's not something you can rescind. You can later charge for
bug fixes ("support") or whatnot, but that original code, albeit still
copyrighted, is no longer able to be locked down. This is considered
an "advantage" so that people can study, modify, redistribute, even
"sell" their own modified versions (where applicable), as long as they
comply with the GPL by releasing their source modifications (once
distributed).
But, as you've probably noticed, most commercial companies don't
follow that model.
