Why should DJGPP care about Windows?

That's what MinGW and Cygwin are all about.

One question this thread raises about printing is, some printers require a 
proprietary binary plugin to be functional.

Case in point is HP LaserJet M1212nf MFP.

Would this be far beyond the capability of FreeDOS?
