I think you either misunderstood the ASUS rep, the ASUS rep misunderstood you, or the ASUS rep doesn't know what he's talking about. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the ASUS rep was just saying things to try to end the support call. I had to deal with them recently to try and figure out why a serial port bracket I bought for my motherboard wasn't working.

Me: My serial port isn't working. What's the pinout on the motherboard so I know if it's a motherboard problem or a problem with my bracket? Them: I don't know. You should try updating your BIOS or buy another bracket. Me: Which kind of bracket? The manual doesn't have the pinout, so how can I know if I'm buying the right bracket?
Them: Sorry, we don't have the pinout information.
Me: Nevermind, I just rewired my own bracket to the next most common alternative pinout and it's working now.

So yeah, ASUS reps don't seem to actually know a lot about the products they're supporting.

So... in this motherboard there's no DOS at all... does anybody know how I could check for sure whether FreeDOS is in Asus actual laptops or not ? All of you, when you use FreeDOS, how do you "see" it is FreeDOS and not another DOS that is running, how do you see the version number ? I begin to wonder if it really is in those laptops or the Asus representative who put the blame on it just knew about old motherboards (the same way they sent us an EeePC procedure to update the BIOS).
