The “repo” subdirectory is not the packages that "shipped” with that
distribution/release. It is a path for software updates for that release.

Not that it matters… But, the directories under …/distributions/1.x/repos are
actually symlinks to the real repo paths under
https://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/repositories/

Anyhow, the 1.1 tree doesn’t get any updates.

For now, the 1.2, 1.3 and "latest" trees get the same updates. At present, both
1.2 & 1.3 are just more symlinks to “latest”. In the future, this could change
if the package format changes or there becomes a fundamental difference between
version compatibility. That probably won’t happen between 1.2 and 1.3. However,
who is to say for 1.4 or even 2.0.

Not at present.

Basically, this change happened because of the possibility of switching the
help system from the HTMLHELP used in 1.2 and the previous 1.3-RCs over to an
AMB Reader version. Since the program used in the previous HELP.ZIP was
HTMLHELP, it probably should have always been in a package called HTMLHELP.ZIP
and not HELP.ZIP.

As far as I know, it wasn’t officially announced.

Some side notes on the repo & repo software…

Did you know you can view a comparison of previous packages and versions to the
current versions on the repository?

Did you know you can subscribe to an RSS feed that is updated automatically
when packages are updated or new ones added?

There are links for both of those at the bottom of the main repo index page at
https://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/repositories/latest/pkg-html/index.html

---

The online software repositories are managed automatically by version 2 of the
repo management software. It is used on the “Official Repo” and on my
unofficial repo ( https://fd.lod.bz/repos ). They just have slightly different
templates and there are a few more packages on mine. Eventually, I plan on
getting around to writing version 3. Lots of improvements are planned. Things
like -- easier for an end-user to setup a custom repo, multi-platform support
and a desktop app, ability to compare repos between servers and a whole lot
more.

:-)
