Hi Jerome,

Some side notes on the repo & repo software…

Did you know you can view a comparison of previous packages and versions to the
current versions on the repository?

Did you know you can subscribe to an RSS feed that is updated automatically
when packages are updated or new ones added?

There are links for both of those at the bottom of the main repo index page at
https://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/repositories/latest/pkg-html/index.html

The online software repositories are managed automatically by version 2 of the
repo management software. It is used on the “Official Repo” and on my
unofficial repo ( https://fd.lod.bz/repos ). They just have slightly different
templates and there are a few more packages on mine. Eventually, I plan on
getting around to writing version 3. Lots of improvements are planned. Things
like -- easier for an end-user to setup a custom repo, multi-platform support
and a desktop app, ability to compare repos between servers and a whole lot
more.

Thank you so much for the clear answers and the elaboration on the repos! It is indeed interesting and quite helpful to know a bit more on this. We are using the repositories in some scripts that live in this repository:
https://github.com/dosemu2/install-freedos

I am not sure yet what would be the best way to interact with the repository without introducing a lot of complexity. I hope that it might be possible to switch over to using fdnpkg but that would require having working internet connectivity out of the box inside DOSEMU, for which some steps still need to be taken.

Thanks again for taking the time to elaborate!!

Best regards,
Julius
