Hi Paul,

I have reproduced several of your problems. Mirror Magic seems
to work okay, but I have not tested the sound there.

Bolitaire, trying to start a new game in Dosemu2:

Trying to start a new game again fails immediately until
you delete the (long name!) statistics.fyl it made again.

The mouse cursor uses the wrong scaling of coordinates
in DOSEMU2 at the moment, so only the upper left can
be reached. There is some built-in sound player, but
I do not know how to open a file to play with that.

The logo shown in "about bolitaire" looks damaged, as
does the "about author" picture of the author, seems
to be using the wrong color depth or palette here?
Use escape key to close windows without using a mouse.

Default CONFIG.TXT uses color=24, trying 15 or 32 is
going to make DOSEMU2 fail with "vgabios: unimplemented,
biosfn_write_teletype:623" and Bolitaire stays black.
Bolitaire also accepts 8, 16 and 24 bit/pixel, needs
more depth above 8 for background images. Seems it
should be custom_driver, not drive, in config. Author
photo: blit(data[YOGESH].dat,form1,0,0,15,35,160,120);

DOSDEF: Tiny DOS Defender Asteroids style game, 10 kB,
works okay in DOSEMU2. Too few files to need extra dir?

FLPYBIRD: Tiny Flappy Bird style game, works in DOSEMU2,
simply uses MCGA BIOS mode, should be no problem, but it
uses I/O ports 42, 43, 61 (for sound), 3da (for VGA sync),

KRAPTOR: Seems to work okay with default settings, has
sound, mouse coordinates wrong in DOSEMU2, use tab and
enter to navigate menus without mouse. 640x480.

Liquid War: Text documents seem to use wrong codepage?
Same mouse cursor problem as always, default 640x480
menu and 320x240 game, up to 1024x768, all working in
DOSEMU2 (menu resolution changes switch immediately).
Not sure how the game plays, keyboard moves a circle?

Magnetic Scrolls: Indeed only an interpreter, you need
to have levels to use this, e.g. from a game you own.

NGE Nibbles: Probably just MCGA graphics, runs WAY too
fast to play in DOSEMU2. First slowly fades in the level,
then you instantly run against the next wall :-p

Vertigo: Flight simulator in MS FS4 generation graphics,
seems to work, but too lazy to learn all special keys to
actually fly that plane, sorry.

WING, Wing Is Not Galaga: Galaga arcade style game, runs
in 640x480 graphics mode with sound, but crashes as soon
as you select "continue on":

So apparently VirtualBox 6.1.22 has a surprising amount
of problems with DOS games and I wonder why that is the
case. I guess all games work equally well or unwell for
all boot options, not just for your choice "3"? Many DOS
games have wrong mouse coordinates in DOSEMU2 for me at
the moment, with DOSEMU2 version 2.0pre8 6157.

I think I have heart complaints about MKEYB in VirtualBox
before, are you using the most recent VirtualBox version?

> bolitare: when quitting game, black screen, no DOS prompt

Not here, but fails to start as soon as statistics.fyl exists.

> dosdef: Have seen division by zero with config = 4
> config = 3: invalid opcode at 2818:163e 0002 0007 98BD 8F57 etc.

Does not happen for me.

> flpybird: black screen when launched

Works for me, simple MCGA graphics, needs VGA port 3da and
speaker/timer control over ports 42, 43 and 61.

> kraptor: graphics seems wrong, but can play, hang when quitting

Works for me, probably VESA graphics at VGA resolution.

> liquiwar: graphics seems wrong, hang when quitting

Works for me, but game strategy unclear for me.
Probably VESA, 320x240 to 1024x768 resolutions.

> magnetic: need a (commercial?) story file

This should indeed be moved to game system EMULATORS
and to the Bonus category, not default part of the
install CD or USB images, not useful enough for that.

> mirror magic: graphics wrong, was not able to read what seems to be text

Looks pretty normal, no crash either, I can play it
by clicking on movable mirrors and similar things.

> nge_nibbles: I think something is wrong (very slow, miss most of the
> level graphic)

The fade-in is relatively slow in DOSEMU2, while the
actual game runs way too fast. Apparently MCGA mode.
> vertigo: hang when quit game

I do not know how to play this flight simulator,
but it seems to work okay.

> wing: color seems wrong, hang on exit, mouse movement not too responsive

Actually crashes when I try to start playing, menu works.

> Seems OK:
> boom, btitanic, eliza, empong, ev4de, ewsnake (italiano), fmines (slow),

> gnuchess (NANSI), hangman, ivan, mistral, nethack, noudar, paku (pacman),
> qtetris, snova, sudoku86, vitetris, ww1, zmiy

I have not tested those, given that they work for you.

Regards, Eric
