Hi Tom,
Thank you for not having a choleric attack!
Telling the "Haus'l" that he has no clue is an honour for me!
Why? Most of the information about bugs in FDT and about new versions are from me.
FDT24xx are monthly trial versions (if I remember right, you know it for two or three months now). When this project started I also thougth "what a bs" - but now I think it is a good project. You can update and fix some tools every month instead of creating a less tested version 1.4 or 2.0 after x years. And with my Excel sheet (can be transformed to html to avoid doubleclicks) that contains the hyperlinks to almost all programs it is easy tocheck if updates are available. So FDT24xx can be kept up to date. While working on FD help I ran a lot of tests with all these programs and noticed a lot of bugs.Only one of them was zoo. There are much much more (you remember a special "fdisk" version in about one and a half year ago? Who was the first to report about it at an online meeting with Jim? And the system crash of one machine while testing?). No clue.I agree with you that zoo working on FAT16 only is not important for FDT (with the working FAT32 support - I have the binary - it would have looked different).I agree that there are a lot of other tools that could be removed from FDT24xx. Outdated compressors are not the worst proposal. But I got the feedback from Jerome to ask the FD mailing list first as it is not possible to remove it if only one personasks for removing. So I did this. Here are some more. Strictly spoken I would have to create two new posts now, but I hope it is ok for Jim.There are at least two other programs on FDT where I will ask the mailing list now:a) fdtui - a mixture between dosshell and an NC clone - please check it, I am sure you will confirm, (sorry, Berki)b) localcfg - creates a country.sys. Version 0.9 is out of date - and the latest version is still buggy with the options.Let's see how many people will agree / disagree.Willi
it seems that no knowledgable person finds zoo interesting enough to fix it.
and those who care about zoo have no clue.
I regret that I have to say this.
Tom
