I plan on extending readexe to do the whole shebang for all of those file formats. Note the latest release version (0.1.2), it's clearly far from complete or done :) > considering the sheer amount of work and complexity involved And you've got numerous open source projects today with Sent from my T-Mobile 5G Device Get Outlook for Android<https://aka.ms/AAb9ysg> ________________________________ From: Bernd B?ckmann <bernd-free...@boeckmann.io> Sent: Thursday, June 13, 2024 11:38:09 AM To: Technical discussion and questions for FreeDOS developers. <freedos-devel@lists.sourceforge.net> Cc: Kirn Gill <segin2...@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [Freedos-devel] 16-bit Windows development > Am 10.06.2024 um 23:51 schrieb Kirn Gill via Freedos-devel > <freedos-devel@lists.sourceforge.net>: > > VMM lives in WIN386.EXE, which is itself a DOS loader for VMM and a > collection of VxDs. I would like to have a look at the Win 1.0 - 3.1 exports (and OS/2 1.0 DOSCALLS.DLL), and I consider writing something on my own. But if it is also on your roadmap I would simply wait until it is finished :) > That's actually one of the initial goals. See if we can cook up Windows 1.0x > in the interim. Sounds like an interesting project with plenty to learn from. Albeit the chance of materialising into something useful seems not that high to me, considering the sheer amount of work and complexity involved. But, every walk starts with the first steps... Like previously mentioned I would be particularly interested in the NE loader stuff. --irony on We could call it "Holes". Because a) it's tightly connected to "Windows" and b) there will be plenty of missing API for the foreseeable future. And Jim could announce this on June 29th :D --irony off Bernd
