if I understand you correctly, you suggest to only install BASE
by default, then use FDIMPLES to install individual packages
from the CD or USB stick later?
I would say it is good to have a somewhat more comprehensive
default available as well. Similar to Linux installers, where
you can get a minimal "server" install, a mainstream "desktop"
install and still have the choice to add anything you like in
some user-friendly package manager later, no matter whether
your initial installation was server or desktop style :-)
So in short, I do like having pre-set choices of BASE and FULL.
Or some other subset of recommended packages larger than BASE.
