No, I think having both would be very confusing.

That said, I am VERY INTERESTED in seeing a test build of the new
kernel and FreeCOM. We've been hearing about these for a while, but
haven't been able to test them (no versions for us to include in the
monthly test releases). And because we haven't been able to test them,
it would be inappropriate to try to plug them into the FreeDOS 1.4
cycle at this late stage. As Jerome reminded us, the T2501 monthly
test release will be the FreeDOS 1.4-RC1 release candidate for the
upcoming FreeDOS 1.4 distribution.

That said, I would very much like to try out the new kernel and
FreeCOM. So if you (Bernd) want to make a build of the new kernel and
FreeCOM, I'll gladly mirror those to the FreeDOS Files Archive at
Ibiblio (labeled clearly as a "test" build, like "2044-test" .. or
whatever the build number is) and announce it on the website. I'll put
a note in the news item that it's for testing, so people would need to
use SYS to try it out on their own. We can include the new kernel and
FreeCOM in the FreeDOS monthly test releases after FreeDOS 1.4 is out,
so we can have plenty of time to test it before we use it in the
distribution after that (probably "FreeDOS 2.0" since it's a new
kernel).
