in what way did he "share" this? Do I have to join a dozen youtube channels,
twitter feeds, instagram whatevers aso.?
I'm fairly certain that this was NOT announced on
freedos-devel@lists.sourceforge.net.

This shows to me that you didn't ever try to run Win3 yourself (and most likely
nobody else).
the comments below the video are
"Demonstration of latest FreeDOS kernel running Windows 3.1 in enhanced and
standard mode.
Uses both FreeCom and 4DOS command shells, but himem and emm386 from Windows
distribution. FAT16/186 kernel".
Note the "but himem and emm386 from Windows distribution". In what way is this
even relevant
to a FreeDOS distribution? And because nobody ever complained I assume nobody
else ever
tried this himself.

It's also a "demonstration". Like "Hello World" in OS country.
Real tests for Windows 3.1 compatibility are FAR more extensive then showing a
message
box with windows version. It's also possible that this kernel just implements
some
required interrupts by answering "is service XYZ available" with YES, but
implements
XYZ itself 20% wrong.

Also why is "himem and emm386 from Windows distribution" required?
Has this changed since 2021?

> So as a compromise, I suggest to include BOTH kernel versions :-)
as a compromise, I suggest to post this kernel binary so this can be tested by
others,
and explaining the himem/emm386 issues.

Tom
