Hi,
SuperIlu usually provides a FreeDOS compatible package that requires little or
no modification to add (or update) seamlessly.
So, it was a simple matter to create a package staging project for it in the
FreeDOS GitLab Archive at:
https://gitlab.com/FreeDOS/util/dosview
<https://gitlab.com/FreeDOS/util/dosview>
As for removing BMP2PNG and including DosView, sounds fine to me. I think it
would be nice to have a decent picture viewer available on the release.
The Pixel editor for my Danger Engine based programs (for example BlockDrop,
SaysWho & FreeDOS Credits) comes with an image viewer. However, it is not an
all purpose viewer. Even though it can view some BMP files, it is really
intended only to view assets (like images, sprites, fonts, etc.) supported by
the game engine. (I wish I had the time to get back to working on that
prototype game engine, the related game ideas and that minimalist pixel editor.
Sigh.)
I doubt there will be any serious objections before replacing BMP2PNG on the
release media. Howerver, we should probably wait a few days before making those
changes to the install media package lists.
:-)
