Knowing that I am oso2k on BTTR, I'd go further & say that sved should
become the default editor.

It's like FED in its featherweight and features, but doesn't require a 386
(djgpp) or MS VisualC to compile.  SVED uses Open Watcom 1.9
<http://svardos.org/sved/> (and UPX) and is compiled with the 8086 CPU flag
so it can work on XTs.  I've used it on my EMM8088 (or HB8088) homebrew XT
and works just as well as on a Pentium II.  I've even replaced FreeDOS Edit
on my Pocket386 & Book8088 palmtops with SVED.
