I'm not sure what you want to accomplish exactly but from the DOS point of
view it doesn't make a difference if the UMBs are provided by UMBPCI or
EMM386, it just claims them at init time and then it works like
conventional RAM with a funny hole before it (Of course disregarding DMA
issues, but DOS doesn't "know" about those).

Maybe HIRAM works in Bochs?

It works whenever the RAM area is writeable. You can use it together with
UMBPCI by loading UMBPCI first, then HIRAM, and only then HIMEM (so
that you can also use devicehigh=himem.exe and save a couple more bytes by
having HIMEM in a UMB).
