Looks great indeed, nice and clean!
But please, keep those errors out of the HTML code. The page looks different on all my browsers.
What about using this quickly recoded version as example? Doesn't have HTML errors and looks the same on any browser i tested. OK, i did this in a few minutes, so it's just a very rough remake, and maybe i've overdriven a bit with the tables, but wtf... :-)
Just remember: '&' has to be '&amp;' and if you really want to keep with the standards you also shouldn't use the "<font>" tag. Just use stylesheets instead. Hope this one will not crash Steffen's Konqueror ;-).

And sorry about this mail becoming a little big.... Hope the mailsystem handles this

It wasn't the new site that crashed Konqueror, that was another site.

Wow, a 32k inline text attachment. Probably not a good idea to make a habit of that on the list. :-)

The html errors you mention are "&" appearing in the news items - this is a result of laziness when I enter news items on the site. I'll have to clean that up, but it shouldn't cause your browser to have problems. This is a common validation error on most sites. I know it doesn't validate on <http://validator.w3.org/>.

I try not to use the <font> tag on the site, and am moving to stylesheets. The few occurrences of <font> that remain are an artifact, and are going to be cleaned up later. This is still valid html, though, although I know it will be deprecated in future.

Email me off-list about the html you submitted. You've changed the layout in a few spots, noticeably in the footer. It's interesting that you changed it back to the first version of the new design, but that was rejected during Usability testing (testers thought the page looked more cohesive if the "hosted by" and webring links were "inside" the body table.)

I'm also curious to learn how this appears differently on your browsers. I have tried it on IE5.5, IE6, Mozilla 1.6 (Linux and Windows), Netscape 7, and Firefox 0.8 (Linux and Windows), and it looks the same to me on those browsers. Those are the top 5 browsers that access FreeDOS.org.
